Selecting the Perfect Kitchen Sink Faucet

 

Selecting just the right kitchen sink and faucet is more difficult that it would first appear. But homeowners, and more specifically homeowners who dwells often in the kitchen, know that there are many considerations to be made when choosing one right for their kitchen.

The Number of Basins
Take into consideration how you use your sink. Do you cook frequently and use pots and pans that need to fit in the basins? Do you want two bowls, one for washing and one for food prep? Make sure the sink first and foremost fits your needs, and figure out if you want one or two basins and how large they should be.

Flat & Deep Walls
Deeper basins can obviously hold large baking dishes for washing and a flat bottom allows you to stack dishes securely.

Drain Placement
Conventional kitchen sinks place the drain directly in the middle of the basin. Try having on offset drain (a drain that is offset), which gives you a flatter bottom surface and allows water to drain even if there are dishes in the sink.

Divider
If your kitchen sink faucet has two basins, make sure the dividing wall in the middle is slightly lower than the outer walls to provide overflow protection.

Faucet
When it comes to your faucet, if style is more important to you, shop the different finishes available. Look into faucets that can swivel, especially if you have two basins. Select a spout that fits your needs, like one that can change water pressure or provides a stream hose.
